"Missinglink projects" aims to explore about Forgotten Craft Skills Buried in History,
and recording "lost connections" to communicate them to bring to light various historical facts
and stories. For passing them on as the memes (cultural genes) for the future.
本プロジェクト、「Missinglink : ミッシングリンク」は、歴史の途中で伝えられず、記録も残っていない忘れ去られた歴史の中に埋もれるもの、また現存する唯一の技術を見つけ、記録し、探求と研究、発展を目的とするプロジェクトです。
ロストテクノロジーとなってしまった文化や物、技術の発見の“失われた繋がり”を探求・記録し、それらを伝えることで、様々な史実やストーリーを浮き彫りにし、 ミーム（文化遺伝子）として未来へと伝えていきます。

プロジェクトにあたり
技術は積み重なりながら発展していくものであり、ひとたび発見された新たな技術は記録されて未来永劫伝えられていく・・・我々はそんな風に思いがちですが、なかには途中で断絶してしまったものも数多くあります。
数十年前の技術でも詳細な記録が伝わっていない。
昔の人にとっては一般的なことでもいまでは再現できず、記録にも残っていない。
そのような工芸技術は現代のテクノロジーを持ってしても解明することができないものが多数存在します。
技術革新がこれほど進んだ現代において、なぜ、再現することができないのでしょうか。
「現代人が作れないものを、昔の人は作っていた」
これは素晴らしいロマンですが、その一方で先人たちの生み出した技術や技法をおろそかにしてきたことに気付かされます。
本プロジェクトを通して“ミッシングリンク（失われた繋がり）” を探す旅を一緒に考察し、このプロジェクトの行く末を見守っていただけたら幸いです。

We tend to think that way, but many things have been lost along the way, and even technologies from decades ago do not have detailed records. What was common for people in the past cannot be reproduced today, and there is no record of it. Many such craft techniques cannot be clarified even with modern technology.
Why can't we reproduce them in this age of technological innovation? "It is a wonderfully romantic notion that people in the past made things that people today cannot make. It is a wonderfully romantic notion that "people in the past made what people today cannot make," but it also reminds us that we have neglected the skills and techniques created by our predecessors.
The goal of this project is to create an ecosystem to revive and revitalize traditional technologies that have been lost to history. Missing-link is a project that explores these lost technologies, not in a nostalgic way, but as an opportunity to explore new technologies and new passions while looking into the future, how we should live in the future, and how we should deal with technology. What is it that connects the past and the future, knowing its history? I would be happy if we could discuss the journey of searching for such a missing link "lost connection" together and build this project together with you.
